Profile of Mahindra Navistar Trucks

Manhindra & Mahindra Ltd. (IN) and Navistar Inc. (USA) entered a joint venture (51:49) and started production of Mahindra Navistar Trucks. Their aim is to provide high performace, multi-utility and efficient trucks for every commercial segment from 3.5 tonne GVW to 49 tonne GVW. Most of their products are application specific to the businesses they are employed in. The new trucks are manufactured at the Chakan Plant, near Pune. It covers over 700 acres and has investments over 4000 crore. The Mahindra Navistar R&D and support teams have over 800 people employed. Navistar's presence is most dominant in the support teams. In addition to the existing Mahindra and Mahindra centers, more centers are being set up for the sales and services of this new brand Mahindra Navistar in all exclusivity. Till date, the Mahindra Navistar trucks have been getting excellent reviews and it has acquired a good customer base for the 25 and 31 tonne trucks that it sells. Recently it has started acquisation for exporting trucks to South Africa and (in all probability,) Australia.
