Those who have seen 'Sathuranga Vettai' can recall the pre-climax portions which explains the 'Rice Pulling' Iridium episode. Similar incident took place in Kumbakonam where a gang tried to sell a fake antique Petromax Lamp which is 200 years old and carries East India Company 1816 tag on it. However, they got caught eventually while trying their luck with the Policemen itself who were on charge to arrest these kind of conmen.
Based on some inside information, the Policemen staged a detailed investigation and approached the Conmen as potential buyers. The gang claimed that the Lamp is worth of 50 crores in international market but they can give it away for 2 crores. They also went on to add, the Lamp contains Iridium and it can attract Rice. Pretty similar to what we saw in the movie. What's more interesting is, the head of Conmen is named as, Babu, which is actually the name of Natty's character in 'Sathuranga Vettai'. The arrested claims that they themselves were conned by some other gang and paid 10 lakhs for the Petromax Lamp.
What we get to understand is, it does not matter how many movies or how many times we try to raise awareness on these kind of fraudulent activities, the show will go on forever until the people gets enlightened by themselves.
