AHMEDABAD : Smt. Anandiben Patel, the Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, will be gracing the International Conference on Maritime Clusters in Gujarat at the Hotel Courtyard by Marriott in Ahmedabad on December 12, 2014. She will be the Chief Guest at this focused event, which will witness eminent speakers discuss and deliberate on key topics such as key factors/ pre-conditions for successful maritime clusters around the globe, shipping service providers/ stakeholders of maritime clusters, planning and design aspects of maritime clusters, role of Government in development of a maritime cluster and scope of ports as the core of a maritime cluster. The conference will see experts from Japan, Norway, Dubai, Netherlands and others share their experience on the subject.
GMB will be signing two co-operation agreements with Maritime Forum of Norway and Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, Dubai branch, at the event. These agreements are meant to help us develop a maritime cluster in the state, similar to the ones that exists at Rotterdam, Singapore and Hongkong. This cluster is not capital intensive and can be set up in a few multi-storied buildings as it exists in Dubai.
Supported by the Gujarat Government and coordinated by Daily Shipping Times, the Conference will provide an excellent platform to policymakers, industry captains, investors, shipyard companies, shipowners, shipping agents, ship charterers, ship brokers, logistics service provider, insurers, legal advisors, consultants, bankers, academicians, developers, maritime educational institutes etc. to know about the many facets of creating world class maritime clusters in Gujarat and contribute in the policy planning. An added advantage of the event will be the chance to interact with officials from GMB, the country\'s premier maritime board, to learn about the many prospective investment opportunities in the state. It will also be an occasion to network with the maritime fraternity.
