KANPUR: The district magistrate, on Wednesday, conducted a raid at Regional Transport office and took as many as 26 persons under custody for unauthorised entry there. The Kakadeo police released 11 persons after checking their identity and papers and booked remaining 15 persons under charges of breaking law and order.
The DM, Roshan Jacob raided the RTO office at around 1 pm following complaints regarding the menace of touts there. As soon as the DM reached there she ordered to close the front door and started checking peoples standing inside the RTO premises. Meanwhile, several persons managed to escape crossing Kanpur-Farrukhabad railway tracks. After checking 26 persons were taken under custody and were brought to Kakdeo police station. The additional city magistrate released 11 persons after checking their papers.
Later the DM said that she received several complaint about tout activities in RTO. She further added that action would be taken against touts and even officials if found guilty.
