New Delhi: The Union High Ways Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Electonic Toll Collection System (ETC) on OCT 31, instead of its early plan to inaugurate on OCT 27th. Till now ETC has been installed at 55 Toll Plazas and their integration with Central Clearing House (CCH) operators has almost completed on the Delhi-Mumbai rout via Haryana, Rajasthan, Mahdya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. A Pilot project for interoperable ETC System of 10 Toll plazas between Mumbai (Charoti) and Ahmadabad has already been tested and seamless ETC on this section is successfully in operation.
The central government has issued orders to incorporate ETC lanes as a mandatory clause in the contracts awarded for all the highwas projects in future. Action will be taken to include ETC systems by means of supplementary agreement in those projects which have not yet been started , the statement said.
A new company, Indian Highways Management Company has been incorporated under the Companies Act 1956, with Equity participation from NHAI (25 percent), Concessionaries (50 percent) and Financial Institutional (25 percent) has already been constituted. Companys Objective: Collection of ETC through the ETC system / To Manage the Project / Commercially provide services to the Central ETC system. Also the required amendments have already been filed in the Central Motor Vehicle Rule, 1989 for fitment of Radio Frequency Identification Tag devices on Vehicle for ETC. Report 25.OCT.2014
