CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK chief M Karunanidhi, DMDK leader Vijayakanth and PMK founder S Ramadoss on Sunday greeted Tamilisai Soundararajan on her appointment as BJP's state president. "I congratulate you on your appointment as president of BJP's Tamil Nadu unit," Jayalalithaa wrote in her letter to Tamilisai. In a statement, Karunanidhi expressed happiness over Tamilisai's appointment as BJP state unit chief and referred her as "his good friend's daughter." Tamilisai is the daughter of Congress leader Kumari Ananthan. The DMK chief also expressed happiness over the appointment of H Raja as BJP's national secretary and Lalitha Kumaramangalam as a spokesperson of the party.
"Their hard work for the BJP has been recognized at the right time. I greet all of them on behalf of DMK," Karunanidhi said in the statement. In a statement, DMK chief Vijayakanth expressed confidence in Tamilisai saying she would perform well in her new role. "She has made her mark in many fields, including gynecology, literature, social work and politics. My hearty wishes for her success," Vijayakanth said. Vijayakanth referred H Raja as a nice person to interact with and extended greetings him. Congratulating Tamilisai, PMK leader S Ramadoss said she has a clear vision on the issues in the state.
"She has deep bonding with the Tamil language. She has been rewarded by the party for her committed work in various positions held in the past," he said. Political observers said Tamilisai's appointment would help BJP reach out to its partners in the state at a time when parties like MDMK and PMK are expressing displeasure over the Central Government's Sri Lankan policy. Her main task would be to prepare the party for assembly elections.
